1977


November 24, 1977:  Joyce Reagan (member of Smyrna H & G Soc.) was chosen Cobb County's Teacher of the Year by the Smyrna Federated Woman's Club.

October 20, 1977:  Smyrna's Sherry Reavis has been elected to head the Georgia Recreation & Parks Society's Fifth District.  Ms. Reavis, presently assistant director for the Smyrna Parks and Recreation Department became the first woman commissioner In the Society's history.

November 3, 1977:  Of the 8976 registered voters in Smyrna, 3449 or 38% voted in the recent city election. Frank Johnson was elected Mayor.  CounciImen elected were:  Jim Tollison, Ward 1;  Bill Darby, Ward 2; Jerry Milles, Ward 3;  Jim Hawklns, Ward 4;  Jack Shinall, Ward 5;  Elbert Colson, Ward 6, and Rem Bennett, Ward 7.
